An angelic photoshoot with Sofia Pedrazzoli
In May I was lucky to once more get the chance to work together with model and ongoing actress Sofia Pedrazzoli. She was first introduced to me as Sophie Gimenez two years ago, and has been one of the first models I have worked with. Back then I was able to learn a lot about basic lighting and posing from our first shoot. Therefore, I wanted to try something more special this time.
For a while now I was interested in trying out some fancy art filters of the kind you screw onto your lens. Since I had come up with this concept of dressing Sofia as an angle, I went for two filters creating stars. One called a Twinkle Star, the other a Snow Cross filter. Wrapping Sofia in Christmas lights and having her play around with them we created some lovely pictures with these effects.
While I think that the lights work best in the sepia colored images, were the wires between them become less obvious, I also love the light effects in color.
Overall I have to say I love the filters a lot. But I still want to get some better options for light props to work with.
Since Sofia is planning on giving up traveling the world as a model in favor of focusing more on her acting, it may well have been my last opportunity to work with her. I am wishing her all the best, and I do hope our paths will cross again in the future, one way or another.
As a comparison, here are also a few pictures taken without the filters, but with my analog OM-2 on film.
There was also a second part of this photo shoot that I will write about in another article. Maybe in form of a comparison of my photos with Sofia two years ago vs now.
