Shooting Analogue

This year I have tried myself a little on shooting film. Mostly when traveling or exploring the city. Rarely during more serious photo shoots. Which is probably good, because this is also my first time focusing purely manually. That is something I was never good at, maybe due to my astigmatism which isn’t fully corrected by my contact lenses.
Still, I notice that not only it seems to be easier with cameras and lenses that are designed purely to focus manually, but also that practice makes better. Even me and my not fully corrected eyes.

So far, I have to say that I do enjoy shooting film, as long as it is without pressure to actually create good images. I cannot see myself starting to use analogue cameras for work really. At least not without an additional digital one to make sure I get the shots that I want.
Occasionally though, shooting a few photos with film might be a nice extra, creating a unique and different look.

Before getting to pictures I want to add, that all photos have been shot with an ILFORD HP5 PLUS film on either a Pentax ME or Olympus OM-2. Also, thank you to my husband Peter for developing my film roles and teaching me how to scan it.

Now, photos. I have grouped my pictures into three categories.
First, people, including a self-portraiture:

Next, Tokyo. Especially the Skytree’s a motive I seem to have enjoyed shooting a lot :)

And last but not least, photos taken while traveling to Hiroshima, Kyoto and Fujiyoshida:
