My Camera Gear

I thought today I might take a moment to talk about gear. More specifically, about the cameras and lenses that I am currently using.

Cameras:

My main camera is, and has been for a while, an Olympus OM-D EM1 markii.
I am a photographer who likes to be on the move. I do not own my own studio, and I do not have a car. Therefore, it is important to me to comfortably be able to take my gear with me, whether I am traveling to another part of the world, or just to another part of the city. MFT allows me take a camera and a few lenses with me without carrying a super heavy back-bag.
Sure, the smaller sensor has its downsides, but Olympus makes up for it with incredible in-body image stabilisation and a light-weight system that is fun to shoot with.

I recently purchased a used Olympus OM-D EM10 markii as a back-up. Read about it here.

Lenses:

Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 25 mm 1:1.2 PRO

The newest lens in my bag and also the fastest one in terms of aperture. I got it very recently, but I already love the images I take with it.

Panasonic Lumix G LEICA DG vario-elmarit
50 – 200 mm 1:2.8 – 4

This has been my favourite lens to shoot with ever since I got it. I use it for birds, for outdoor events, I love to take it along when I go hiking, just in case I get the chance to photograph wildlife. Most of my best picture I have taken with this lens.

Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm 1:1.8

My first portrait lens, and the second lens I got for MFT.
I don’t take it with me as often since I got the Panasonic 50-200mm, but if I want to travel light or I know I won’t need to bring a very long telephoto lens, it is a great choice. Light and easy to carry, it takes great pictures with a nice smooth bokeh.

Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm 1:1.8

The first lens I got with my camera. For five month I only shot with this 35mm equivalent prime lens.
It is so tiny, I can put it in the pocket of my wide Jeans, and still I have no complaints about the image quality.

And that concludes the list of my current camera gear.
I didn’t include lighting equipment or camera bags in this post, but I may write about these later in the future.
