Crafting Lucky Clovers for New Years

I made these Lucky Clovers as New Years decorations for my crafting project with Hands On Tokyo. Together with other crafts from other volunteers they were send to senior- and children's homes.

On New Years eve I also made two more for my husband and I to exchange at midnight. In Austria, where we are from, it is tradition to exchange lucky charms in the form of chocolate or plastic clovers, pigs, ladybugs, toadstools and chimney sweepers as lucky charms for the new year.
I haven’t been able to find lucky charms like this in Japan so far, therefore I just decided to make some myself this year.

All you need to make a lucky clover yourself are a square piece of green paper, scissors, and a glue stick.

Start by folding the paper vertically and horizontally edge to edge. Crease well, then turn it around!

Then, fold the two diagonals, crease well, and push the paper together along the fold lines.

After folding once more along the central crease you will end up with a triangular piece of folded paper.

The fully closed edge as the midline, cut out half a heart shape. You can also draw the shape on with a pencil first to make sure it will look neat.

Unfold, and the lucky clover is almost ready.

To add a stem, cut a stripe from the left over paper and glue it on at the back.

If you like you can add a lady bug sticker or drawing to make your clover extra lucky.
