From Business to Modern Vintage

In my most recent collaboration I had the pleasure of working with new and upcoming model Aayushi (IG: @aayushi_kotharii).
Originally planned as a black and white shoot, we expanded the session to two outfits. The first part was supposed to become the black and white part, and the second one, with a beautiful blue and white dress, all in colour.
In the end it turned out to be a perfect reminder, that, while it is good to have a plan, one should always keep an open mind when working on a project. Because had I stuck to this original idea only, I would have missed out on some of my favourite photos from the shoot.

Let’s start with part one:
The basic concept was to have a white backdrop and an elegant black outfit for contrast. As mentioned above, I wanted to turn the shots into black and white in the edit. I did so with some of them, and they do look great this way.

But keeping them in colour also made for a beautiful business-fashion vibe:

It actually depends on the picture which version I like better, so I am glad I did both. And this is even more true for the second part.

Part 2:
For this one Aayushi brought a beautiful blue and white dress. To bring out the light, delicate colours and let them shine I changed to a black background.

Again, the pictures look amazing in colour. But I feel that converting them to black and white is making them even more… powerful? Impactful, may be the right word. But of course, this may only be my personal impression.

For all conversions to black and white (or sepia), and for many of the color photos (especially in part 2) I have used my ‘Modern Vintage’ presets set. I am still working on some of the details, but I may offer it for download sometime in the future.

Again this time, I want to end the post with my favourite shot of the session. Since I could not decide wether I like it more in black and white or in color, here are both versions of it:

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day!
