A Night in Shinjuku with Rosi and Sick Bubblegum

In September I was lucky to get the opportunity to spend a night out with Pro-Wrestlers Rosi and Sick Bubblegum while they were visiting Japan. The two of them engaged me to take pictures of them in Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s most colorful, neon-light heavy, party districts.

We were also lucky with the weather. It was raining just enough to make the streets glow, reflecting the lights, but not enough to get seriously wet or to endanger my (mostly weather sealed) equipment.

We started the night in Omoide Yokocho, a somewhat famous drinking alley, and I was able to get some beautiful shots of the Wrestlers.

As well as some truly funny ones, since the pair kept goofing around with each other, making this one of the funniest outdoor shoots I have ever done!

As the rain got harder we took shelter at a Gaming Hall. Multiple floors offer various gaming machines that can be a lot of fun on one’s own, or played against each other.

But it is not always easy to win.

Especially not if someone is maybe cheating a little bit…

Afterwards we went shopping at Don Quixote (ドンキホーテ, or ドンキ for short).

We visited the Kabukicho Godzilla.

And the Cat.

And ended our night taking some more pictures at a nearby crossing in the light rain that kept falling down.

Thanks guys for the fun night. I can’t wait to work with you again sometime when you are back in Japan!
